چکیده
Papillomaviruses were originally grouped together with the polyomaviruses in a single taxonomic group, the Papovaviridae. The division into two separate groups was based on genomic organisation, virion size (polyomaviruses being smaller (50 nm) than papillomaviruses (55 nm)), and on their diVering molecular patterns of replication. Papillomaviruses are epitheliotropic, with the exception of bovine papillomaviruses (BPV) which can induce equine sarcoid and fibropapillomas, and infection across species is uncommon (for example, BPV infection of hamsters and horses).

Background: The accuracy of diagnostic assays in Human Papillomavirus (HPV) genital infection and cervical cancer has remained a clinical challenge in diagnosis. Evidence indicates that a large proportion of cervical cancer can be prevented through organized care for HPV and testing. Countries with low per capita income, such as Iran and its neighbour...

Background and Objective: Genital warts, the most common sexually transmitted disease (STD), are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Few studies have been performed on Iranian women with genital warts or cervix cancer but there isno documented data about genital warts and HPV genotyping in Iranian men. In this study, we determined HPV genotypesin 108 male and females with anogenital warts in ...

HPV is the commonest sexually transmitted viral infection in the United Kingdom and as such poses a major public health problem. In addition to the potential physical morbidity associated with genital warts, abnormal cervical cytology, and anogenital dysplasia and neoplasia, the associated psychological morbidity should not be forgotten. Although our knowledge of viral function and disease path...

INTRODUCTION Male genital infection by human papillomavirus is of particular importance since it is often asymptomatic. The patient generally presents no clinical lesion. Therefore, men represent an important reservoir of virus, playing a special role in the transmission and perpetuation of the disease. PATIENTS AND METHODS In the present prospective clinical trial study, 190 sex partners of ...

The available virus-like particle (VLP)-based prophylactic vaccines against specific human papillomavirus (HPV) types afford close to 100% protection against the type-associated lesions and disease. Based on papillomavirus animal models, it is likely that protection against genital lesions in humans is mediated by HPV type-restricted neutralizing antibodies that transudate or exudate at the sit...
